Since 2018, Danielle Schroeder has been slowly finding her place in Vancouver’s music scene. Blending elements of adult contemporary and alt-rock, her 2024 EP Between Two Worlds marked an important step, reaching listeners around the world and receiving thoughtful attention from fans and press alike. Now, she’s ready to build on that momentum with the release of her forthcoming album, Later is Here, set for June 2025.

Danielle’s journey to making music was a bit unconventional. She started writing songs while working as a counsellor supporting people living with cancer, and specifically with those facing the end of life. It was during those deeply intimate moments with people that she began to understand just how essential music is as a condition for healing. Danielle also discovered that letting herself create and express through song in the midst of such intense and often very heartbreaking situations became a lifeline to stay grounded and present with all that she was experiencing—it still is today.

For this reason the music Danielle writes doesn’t shy away from the heavy stuff - Endings and beginnings, loss, change, and all the paradoxes in between—these are the threads that run through my songs, inextricably linked to the work I do as a counsellor, and now also through the contours of motherhood and womanhood.

Musically, her more recent sound is influenced by artists like The War on Drugs, Radiohead, and Imogen Heap, with a subtle blend of atmospheric textures and layered arrangements. At the same time, her folk roots run deep—Tracy Chapman and Joni Mitchell are clear touchstones.

With a quiet persistence and a deep love of storytelling, Danielle continues to share her songs—honest, heartfelt, and quietly resonating with those who need them.

Later Is Here

“Unfiltered, breathtaking, and profoundly human, Danielle Schroeder redefines vulnerability in song..” Cage Riot

"Later Is Here" is a compilation of nine tracks across two years of writing and recording.

Blending the melodic warmth of adult contemporary with familiar folk vulnerability and the atmospheric pull of alt-rock, 'Later Is Here' is a record that explores the complex and paradoxical connections and tensions between past and present, light and dark, endings and beginnings, holding on and letting go, and the lifelong struggle of trying to become who we are truly meant to be in this lifetime.

Recorded at Monarch Studios with producer Aaron Klassen, and bandmates, Jeremiah Schneider and Paolo Pietropaolo

“Drawing from the likes of Joni Mitchell and The War on Drugs, Danielle makes everything feel timeless with the familiar folk vulnerability with the atmospheric pull of alt-rock. You can hear her counsellor soul in every lyric. The deep empathy in her songwriting makes you feel heard, even if you’re not saying a word. And knowing this came from grieving a close friend, it makes every line even more intimate, more weighty.” Illustrate Magazine

“..Each song feels like a sacred revelation, with Schroeder’s vocals acting as the guide through emotional landscapes and deep contemplation.Edgar Allen Poets

Schroeder isn’t just a songwriter — she’s also a counsellor, and that dual role shows up in the emotional intelligence of her music. There’s a rare kind of permission she gives her listener: permission to feel it all, to not have it all together, to grieve publicly and imperfectly. And that might just be the most radical thing about her art. -Odyssey Magazine
